Experience Laksegade’s history on the construction site fence
During the summer, we bring highlights from Laksegade’s history to life on the construction site. Drop by and dive into more than 400 years of Danish and urban history that has taken place in the neighborhood.
“The devil is loose in Laksegade” is a phrase familiar to many, but what is the story behind it? What happened in the neighborhood before the banks moved in, who built the big mansions and who lived there? Laksegade has been the scene of major events in the history of the city and Denmark as a whole, and for more than 400 years, the neighborhood has seen colorful nightlife, sailors and navy men, wealthy merchants and formed the setting for the country’s financial center.
From mid-July, you can visit the Laksegade Quarter and dive into the many stories told around the fence in collaboration with the Copenhagen Museum and Kbhbilleder.dk.
