Kicking the year of, invited guests were welcomed inside one of Copenhagen’s most iconic and historic buildings, Erichsen's Mansion, for a private viewing of "The Loeb Collection" - widely considered the most important collection of Danish art ever assembled in private hands. In collaboration with international auction house Phillips, Laksegade Kvarteret became a part of the first stop of the collection’s global tour in the heart of Copenhagen.
The nearly 150 works in The Loeb Collection were assembled by John L. Loeb Jr. during his time as U.S. Ambassador to Denmark in the early 1980's. Spanning more than 200 years of Danish art history, the collection features masterpieces by Vilhelm Hammershøi alongside significant works by P. S. Krøyer, Anna Ancher, and Bertha Wegmann.

Art in its historical context
The exhibition marked a rare opportunity to experience these works within the historic interiors of Erichsen’s Mansion. A building deeply connected to the cultural and architectural heritage of Copenhagen. Located in the same district where Hammershøi painted many of his most celebrated works, the collection felt as if it belonged to be presented within the walls of the mansion. Art and architecture meet in a shared sense of stillness, history, and quiet presence. A great reflection of The Loeb Collection.

Shaping the future
For just a few days, the historic rooms were once again filled with life - and as the area enters a new phase of development, the presentation of The Loeb Collection reflects the projects vision of carefully transforming Laksegade Kvarteret into an accessible and vibrant part of the city. Respecting the past while shaping the future.
